Experience is Education

There is a Chinese proverb that goes a little something like this:

Tell me, I'll forget
Show me, I'll remember
Involve me, I'll understand

This describes how I take in information.

Actually, thinking about my formal education (in class, in a desk, taking notes, etc) I don't retain much of what has been thrown at me. But, the lessons I've learned by playing sports, going on trips, doing service projects and being involved in other clubs or teams have changed the kind of person I am.

Experiential education should help mold the student as a person.
